Sampdoria was formed in 1946 after the merger of Sampierdarenese and Andrea Doria. In 1991, Sampdoria won their only Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana. They have also won the Coppa Italia four times and in Europe, they won the Cup Winners Cup in 1990. They also played in the 1992 European Cup final where they lost to Barcelona 0-1. S.S. Lazio was founded in 1900 and they have spent the majority of their existence in the top tier of Italian football. The Biancocelesti have been crowned as Italian champions twice and they have won the Coppa Italia seven times. They also have four Supercoppa Italiana titles, one UEFA Cup Winners Cup and one UEFA Super Cup win. After their best success in the 1990s, they went into an economic crisis in 2002. Despite their troubles, they won the Coppa Italia in 2004, 2009, 2013 and 2019. Lazio finished 8th in the final Serie A table last season.

Who Wins?
Lazio enters this match as the soccer betting favorites against Sampdoria. They are 7-2-1 SU in their last meetings against Sampdoria and the latter hasn’t beaten Lazio in their last three meetings. In their most recent meeting last April 28, 2019, Lazio won 2-1 after scoring two goals in the first half.
Lazio had a rough season that ended with an 8th place finish which was disappointing given how the started the season. Lazio gained 10 points and dropped 17 in the last two months of the season. Still, there is plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the upcoming season.
This is a good Serie A squad. They have however not injected youth nor talent this summer and their young players continue to grow older. Felipe is the only consistent starter under the age of 23. Ciro Immobile is the focal point of the attack. Luis Alberto and Felipe Caicedo will play the other two attacker roles. Marusic and Lulic look to remain as the key wing backs of the team. The main concern with Lazio is their defense which needs to improve if they are to catch the likes of Inter and Milan. But against Sampdoria, Lazio should have enough to take the victory here.
