“Soccer" Who Wins?

Roma is the soccer betting favorite here as they have gone 5-4-1 SU in their last 10 games played. They are also 4-1-1 SU in their last six games played at Olimpico Stadium. Genoa is 0-5-5 SU in their last 10 games played. The Red and Blues are 0-3-3 SU in their last six games played on the road. Head to head, A.S. Roma is 8-2-0 SU in their last 10 meetings.

Roma is coming off a tumultuous season. The ultras boycotted games, A.S. Roma fired their head coach, players became hated by the city and the team got off the Champions League competition with controversy. Not to mention that Francesco Totti left after his frustration with the ownership group. All the drama is done with but after it, A.S. Roma may be due for a regression.

They were once the second-best team in Italy but after losing Mohamed Salah in 2017, Alisson in 2018 and now Stephen El Shaarawy this summer, the quality of the squad has dipped. The arrival of Diawara gives hope in the midfield but their backfield is a big question mark. They signed a better goalkeeper but I’m not sure if that will be enough to make up for their defensive shortcomings.

Roma though has displayed good form in preseason although it has come mostly against inferior opposition. Three wins over opponents from lower leagues were followed by a victory over Lille plus a draw over Atletico Bilbao. Because of that, we can’t gauge for sure how good Roma will be. But against Genoa, they should have more than enough to pull off the victory at home. I’m picking A.S. Roma to defeat Genoa on 8/26/19. Prediction: A.S. Roma
