The 2019 PGA season ends in East Lake Golf Club with the Tour Championship. It’s the last event before we start the 2020 season at Greenbrier next month with a Military Tribute. This year’s tournament has a new format and some players are starting at a better position than others so that makes this year’s edition more exciting. That new format has influenced the betting odds for the 2019 PGA Tour Championship, with Justin Thomas on top of the odds board because of his -10 opening score.

Here are the odds to win the 2019 PGA Tour Championships. These odds were taken from TitanBet as of 8/21/19:

Player Odds
Justin Thomas +225
Patrick Cantlay +450
Brooks Koepka +500
Rory McIlroy +800

Xander Schauffele +2500

Golf Who are The Favorites?

Justin Thomas will open the tournament with the lead at 10-under par. That gives Thomas at least a two-stroke lead over the rest of the field. We know that Thomas is one of the best golfers under pressure and he is one of the best in holding a lead. The 5th ranked player in the Official World Golf rankings won the 2019 BMW Championship last August 18, 2019. That was his first Top 10 finish since placing 9th at the WGC-Mexico tournament.

Patrick Cantlay has improved his scorecard in his last four tournament starts and played well at the BMW Championship where finished three strokes behind Justin Thomas. Cantlay hasn’t played well at East Lake but his short game has shown dramatic improvement and he is playing his best golf of the year right now. He starts only two strokes behind Thomas so you have to like his odds here.

Brooks Koepka is the #1 ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Rankings and won the PGA Championship while placing 2nd in the Masters and the U.S. Open. He hasn’t played his best golf in the last couple of tournaments but most of his shortcoming have come from his short game. If he brings his putter to East Lake, watch out for the world’s best golfer.

Rory McIlroy will start five strokes off Justin Thomas and that explains why the golf betting odds put him this far back. McIlroy is having a fantastic season. He’s finished double-digits under par in his last four tournaments while making the cut and he’s been on the hunt for wins all year long. McIlroy won here at East Lake in 2016 and also has second-place finish here so I don’t think starting at a disadvantage will worry him at all.

Justin Rose will start this tournament at eight strokes back and when you take a look at his resume, Rose has six straight Top 10 finishes at East Lake so if there’s a course where he can finally breakthrough this year, it’s most probably going to be in this golf course that he loves to play in.

Golf Who Wins?

I think Brooks Koepka will bounce back after his recent struggles. The world’s #1 ranked golfer has been impressive this season and I think that he and Rory McIlroy have the best betting value in this list. McIlroy is also having a fantastic season and is a former winner here so I think he could be a good pick as well. And for a dark horse pick, I like Justin Rose’s value because he’s been so consistent at this golf course. Prediction: Brooks Koepka but won’t mind you picking Rory McIlroy or Justin Rose.
