The Orlando Magic travel to Oklahoma City to take on the OKC Thunder on Tuesday night.

Back To Back Wins

The Orlando Magic have won back to back games for the first time since January 14th and they did so on Saturday night at the expense of the surging Brooklyn Nets. With the twin victories, Orlando improved to 22-31 on the season and now trail the 8th seeded Miami Heat by a mere three games.

Nikola Vucevic has emerged as the main man for the Magic. The seven footer is averaging a double-double with 20.7 points and 12.0 rebounds while also contributing 3.8 assists and 1.0 steal per game. Aaron Gordon is helping Vucevic with 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per outing while Evan Fournier and Terrence Ross are scoring 14.7 and 14.1 points per game, respectively.

The Magic have the fourth lowest scoring average among all teams at 104.3 points per game. However, they have the 8th best scoring defense in the league at 107.4 points per game allowed. Orlando is also ranked 14th in passing with 24.5 assists per game and they are 23rd off the glass with 43.8 rebounds per night.

What’re the Odds?

Orlando Magic vs Oklahoma City Thunder 2/5/19
Moneyline Odds: Magic +405, Thunder -500
Odds from betonline.ag as of 2/5/19

First Loss Since January 17th

Russell Westbrook’s crucial turnover with 10 seconds left in the game cost the Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday’s big showdown against the Boston Celtics. With the loss, Oklahoma’s seven game winning streak is over and the Thunder suffered their first loss since January 17th when they lost in overtime to the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite the setback, the Thunder remain in third place in the Western Conference team standings.

Paul George leads the Thunder in scoring with a career-high 27.8 points per game to go along with 7.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Russell Westbrook is having another triple-double season with 21.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 11.0 assists per game. Steven Adams is contributing 15.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while Dennis Schroeder is helping the Thunder’s cause with 15.6 points and 4.2 assists per outing.

Oklahoma is the 5th highest scoring team in the league at 114.8 points per game while also owning the 12th best scoring defense at 109.8 points per game allowed. The Thunder rank 22nd in assists with just 23.3 dimes per contest and they are 3rd in the entire NBA in rebounding at 48.0 boards per game.

Who Wins?

Orlando is 3-7 SU in their last 10 games played and the Magic are 1-3 SU in their last four road games. The Thunder are 7-3 SU in their last 10 games overall and are 3-1 SU in their last four home games played. Head to head, the Thunder are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against the Magic.

Nikola Vucevic is even playing better in his last 10 games, averaging 23.2 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 blocks per game although the Magic have been just 3-7 SU during that stretch. Jason Isaac is also playing well for Orlando as he’s come up with back to back double-doubles during Orlando’s two-game winning streak. Both Vucevic and Isaac had three blocks against the Nets and they will need the same effort on both ends of the floor if Orlando is to beat Oklahoma City.

Russell Westbrook has recorded six straight triple-doubles but his hero ball effort cost his team their game against the Celtics. Paul George has been on fire in his last 10 games, averaging 32.5 points on 48.3% shooting. George has made 31 three pointers in his last five games and is shooting 52.5% from three ball over that stretch. Expect Westbrook to try and come up with a bounce back game and George to remain hot as he’s shot 14-22 from downtown in his last two home games.

Betting Prediction

The Magic have won two in a row but they beat a depleted Indiana team and a banged up Brooklyn squad. Meanwhile, the Thunder have won seven of eight and are 15-5 SU in their last 20 home games played. The Magic have won just six out of their last 20 road games and have lost seven out of their last games away from home. I think Orlando is biting more than they can chew here.

I’m picking the Oklahoma City Thunder to beat the Orlando Magic on 2/5/19.

Betting Prediction

The Magic have struggled on the road against the better teams as they’ve gone 1-4 ATS in their last five road games against teams with a home winning percentage of at least .600. Orlando is also 1-4 ATS in their last five games against the Northwest Division. Oklahoma City is 4-1 ATS when their opponent scores more than 100 points in their previous five games, 5-1 ATS in their last six games against the Eastern Conference and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games after scoring 125 or more points in their previous game played.

Prediction: Thunder -10

The over is 6-4 in the last 10 games played by the Magic including 3-1 in four road games during that period. The total has gone under in 8 out of the last 10 games played by the Thunder including 3-1 in four home games over that period. Head to head, these teams have also seen the total hit the over in seven out of their last 10 overall meetings.

Betting Prediction

Orlando has struggled on the road this season and the Chesapeake Energy Arena is one of the loudest and toughest in the entire NBA. But these teams have played over the total in five out of their last seven meetings. The over is 7-1 in Orlando’s last eight games after an SU win and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games after an ATS win. The Thunder have seen the over go 6-0 in their last six Tuesday games and the over is also 6-1 in their last seven overall. I’m looking for a big game from Westbrook and George here.

Prediction: Over 224.5
