The Minnesota Vikings play the Seattle Seahawks at the CenturyLink Field on the NFL’s Monday Night Football schedule for December 10th.

Both teams are breathing heavily right now, hoping to make a final push for their playoff bids. Both teams are in a position to take playoffs spots but both need to win on Monday night to keep their chances looking good.

Inconsistent Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have been incredibly inconsistent this season. They opened at 1-2-1 and then won three games in a row. After that, they have lost three out of their last five games to be at this spot. Still, all is not lost as they are still within striking distance of a playoff spot. However, they might need to win three out of their last for games (if not all) to ensure they get a ticket to the big dance.

The Vikings made a splash by bringing in Kirk Cousins during the offseason and while he’s provided the numbers, he has not given the team the victories they had hoped for. Cousins has thrown for 3,490 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has completed 73.1% of his passes and has thrown at least two touchdowns in twelve out of his last eighteen games played. Latavius Murray leads the ground game with 466 yards and five scores but as a team, Minnesota averages just 86.1 rushing yards per game.

Seahawks On A Roll

On the other hand, the Seattle Seahawks have been on a roll, winning their last three games and improving to 7-5 on the season. With all the pieces from last season’s team which they lost, the Seahawks have done a good job in being where they are right now and no doubt, they have exceeded expectations this season. But Seattle isn’t just here to surprise us, they are here looking at the playoffs and a win over the Vikings should solidify their claim.

Russell Wilson has thrown 29 touchdowns with only five interceptions this season. Wilson has amassed 2,716 passing yards while completing 66.6% of his passes. He has thrown at least three touchdown passes in five out of his last eight games played.  Chris Carson has resurrected Seattle’s ground game, rushing for 704 yards with 4 touchdowns on the season.

Who Wins?

The Vikings are 17-7-1 SU in their last 25 games played and are 2-4-1 SU in their last seven games on the road. The Seahawks are 5-2 SU in their last seven games played and are 15-7 SU in their last 22 games played at home. Head to head, the Seattle is 4-1 SU in their last five games played against Minnesota and are also 4-1 SU in their last five home games against the Vikings.

This is a game between two teams which are trending in opposite directions. The Vikings couldn’t seem to get it going at this stage of the season while the Seahawks are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Minnesota has lost three out of its last five games on the road and the Vikings have split their last six games. The Seahawks have won three out of their last five at home and have won three games in a row.

Minnesota has been very inconsistent this season and splitting their last six game is proof of that. Offensively, they have been held to 20 or less points in three out of their last five games and they have yet to beat a team with a winning record this season. Seattle meanwhile has been playing great football as of late, winning their last three games by at least double digits. Their five losses this season were all close and they were to Super Bowl or playoff contenders.

Betting Prediction

I can’t find a reason not to back Seattle here and I even forgot to mention that they are playing at home where they have been rock solid for a long time now, at 46-12 SU in their last 58 home games including 3-1-1 SU in five home games this season. The Vikings are just too inconsistent this season and I’m not taking Kirk Cousins in a road game like this.

We’re picking the Seattle Seahawks to beat the Minnesota Vikings on 12/10/18.
