After suffering an upset at the hands of the Buffalo Bills last week, the Minnesota Vikings look to get back on track against the undefeated Los Angeles Rams on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.

NFC North Favorites

The Vikings entered the season as the favorites to win the NFC North and they backed theat up with a solid 24-16 win over the San Francisco 49ers on opening week. But Minnesota has not won since as they were held to a 29-all tie in Green Bay and were humbled by the Buffalo Bills on their own home field.

Kirk Cousins has completed 68.3% of his passes and has thrown for 965 yards with 7 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Dalvin Cook leads their ground attack with 78 rushing yards while Adam Thielen has 338 receiving yards on 39 catches and Stefon Diggs has a team best three receiving touchdowns.

Minnesota is averaging 371.7 total yards per game which includes 305.7 passing yards per game which is 5th in the NFL. The Vikings are averaging 19.7 points per game through three games.

What’re the Odds?

Odds: Vikings +235, Rams -280

Still Undefeated

The Los Angeles Rams enter this season with plenty of expectations and so far, they have lived up to their billing as they are still undefeated after three games played. The Rams opened their season with a win over the Raiders and followed that up with a victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Last week, Los Angeles easily beat the Chargers 35-23 at their home field.

Jared Goff has thrown for a total of 941 yards on 70.3% completion with six touchdowns and two interceptions. Todd Gurley II has rushed for 255 yards and scored 4 rushing touchdowns this season. On the air, Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks each have 19 catches so far. Woods has two TD catches while Cooks leads the Rams with 336 receiving yards.

The Rams rank third in the NFL in both scoring and total yards at 34 points and 439.3 yards respectively. On the defensive end, they lead the league with just 12 points per game allowed.

Who Wins?

The Vikings are 13-3-1 SU in their last 17 games and 6-2-1 SU in their last eight games away from home. They are 5-0 in their last five meetings against the Rams and 6-3 in their last nine games played in Los Angeles. Minnesota has not lost back to back games since 2016. This is a legit contender who is coming off a terrible night.

Betting Prediction

Meanwhile, the Rams have supplanted the Patriots as Super Bowl 53 favorites with their 4-0 start. They have won 10 out of their last 15 games straight up but are only 6-12 SU in their last 18 games at home. That recent home record though isn’t indicative of how good this 2018 team has been playing. I like the Rams to win in a close match-up. Prediction: Los Angeles Rams -280

Other Bets To Make?

The Vikings have covered 13 out of their last 17 games where they were underdogs by at least three points. The Rams have covered seven of their last nine games where they were favorites by at least three points. Los Angeles has been perfect this season at 3-0 ATS. With both teams doing well against the spread, the deciding factor here is the head to head matchup between these two teams.

What’re the Odds?

Spread Odds: Vikings +6.5 (-108), Rams -6.5 (-112)

As we said earlier, The Vikings have won their last five meetings versus the Rams and are 6-3 SU in their last nine games while playing the Rams in Los Angeles. They are also 5-0 ATS in their last five games versus Los Angeles. The Rams are also just 6-11-1 in their last 18 home games overall. So while the Rams have been doing well ATS, they haven’t done so against the Vikings.

Betting Prediction

Minnesota is coming off one of the worst losses by any team in this young season but you can’t just write them off based on one game. The Vikings are legit Super Bowl contenders and they have been among the Top 5 betting favorites since the Super Bowl 53 lines have opened. Having said that, I can’t give a team like the Vikings a free touchdown on a playdate that usually has unpredictable results. Prediction: Vikings +6.5

The Over has also prevailed in eight out of the last 12 meetings between these two teams and in seven out of the last eight games between these teams where the game was played in Los Angeles. The total has also gone over in 6 out of the Rams’ last 9 games overall.

Betting Prediction

When you talk about offense, the Rams lead the league with a total of 1318 yards gained for the season. Their 34.7 points per game average ranks third in the entire NFL. The Vikings only rank tied 22nd in scoring at 22.7 points per game but take away last week’s six point effort, Minnesota was averaging 26.5 points per game through two games. The point here is both teams can score and will score in this contest. Prediction: Over 49
