Leicester City takes on Bournemouth at the King Power Stadium on August 31, 2019.

Soccer Leicester City

Leicester City is one of six clubs to win the English Premier League title since its inception in 1992. The Foxes were dubbed as the “Unbelievables” for winning the Premier League in 2015-16 because they started the season as the soccer betting favorites to face relegation. Leicester City has spent all but one year of their history in the top two divisions of the English Football system. After Claude Puel was sacked with Leicester City in 13th place last February, Brendan Rodgers took over and led them to a 9th place finish during the last Premier League season.

Soccer Bournemouth

Bournemouth has earned a reputation as one of the regulars in the Premier League one decade after they went under administration. It can be recalled that at about this time in 2008, Bournemouth was preparing to play in League Two. But since Eddie Howe has taken over, he led the Cherries back to the Premier League. Despite heavy spending last season, Bournemouth remained mediocre. They started the season well but could not sustain the momentum because they played inconsistently throughout the year. This summer, the spending wasn’t like before as Howe has chosen to do the best with what he has in his lineup.

These are the players for Bournemouth as of  August 1, 2019:

  • Goalkeepers: Artur Boruc, Asmir Begovic, Mark Travers
  • Defenders: Simon Francis (captain), Steve Cook (3rd captain), Nathan Ake, Charlie Daniels, Adam Smith, Jack Stacey, Diego Rico, Jack Simpson, Lloyd Kelly, Chris Mepham
  • Midfielders: Dan Gosling (4th captain), Andrew Surman (vice-captain), Jefferson Lerma, Jordon Ibe, Lewis Cook, Junior Stanislas, David Brooks, Ryan Fraser, Kyle Taylor, Matt Butcher, Alex Dobre, Harry Arter
  • Forwards: Joshua King, Dominic Solanke, Callum Wilson, Sam Surridge

Soccer Who Wins?

Leicester City has opened the 2019 Premier League season with two points in two games and that’s a solid start for this team. Brendan Rodgers’ side managed a draw with Chelsea and the Wolves with a match against Sheffield United scheduled for August 24th.

Despite being 32, Jamie Vardy remains as the talisman of Leicester City. He has yet to score a goal in the first two games of the season but you know that first one is just around the corner. His willingness to run, chase and put pressure is always a scary sight for defenders. On defense, it’s Johny Evans who is the glue that keeps them together. Youri Telemans is coming off a subpar season and you know he wants to bounce back to prove himself.

Bournemouth has four points in two games in the early season. They defeated Aston Villa with two early goals to win 2-1. In their first game, Bournemouth was forced to a 1-1 draw by Sheffield United. Loan signee Harry Wilson scored his first goal against Villa. Manager Eddie Howe is on his fifth season as the boss and he is known for his desire to play the attacking game regardless of the opponent. I think Bournemouth will play aggressive and put the front foot when possible. Their quality in the offense will be too much for Leicester City here. Prediction: Bournemouth
