Societa Sportiva Napoli or S.S.C. Napoli was founded in 1926 but saw little success early in its history. Napoli won just one Coppa Italia until 1965 and it wasn’t until the 80s with Diego Maradona when they won several trophies. But after Maradona left, the squad struggled, was relegated and suffered financial problems. Film producer Aurelio De Laurentis refounded the club in 2004 and stabilized the club and put it back on the football map. Who Wins?
After a slow start to their transfer market activities, Fiorentina has signed Kevin-Prince Boateng, Pol Lirola, Milan Badelj, and Erick Pulgar who are all expected to be part of their starting XI this season. With those additions, Vincenzo Montella is going to boast a new midfield and some exciting combinations. However, these new pieces need more time to play together and that could be to their disadvantage against Napoli in this matchup.
Napoli has been impressive in preseason play. The addition of Kostas Manolas is a big addition to their defense as he gets to play with Koulibaly on that side of the field. With the two, the Neapolitans are expected to be strong on defense.
On offense, they play a free-flowing and attacking brand of football. Carlo Ancelotti will be entering his second season as in charge and that should give Napoli some continuity with what they do on the football field. Ancelotti moved Lorenzo Insigne and Jose Callejon to a more deeper central role, with the hopes of improving the connection between the midfield and defense.
