The 2020 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 is the 10th race of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season. It will be held on June 7, 2020, at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, and will be contested over 325 laps on the 1.54-mile long asphalt quad-oval intermediate speedway.

As with the other NASCAR races that have taken place since the coronavirus outbreak, this race will be held without an audience and only a limited number of essential personnel will be at the venue. It is the sixth race of the season since action resumed after a break caused by the pandemic.

Sunday’s race will also be held without practice and qualifying as NASCAR tries to limit exposure for on-site personnel to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Instead, the starting lineup will be determined by a random draw among groups in the team owners standings:

In the most recent race of the season, Brad Keselowski took the Food City 500 at the Bristol Motor Speedway last May 31, 2020. Keselowski finished ahead of Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson who completed the podium. Here are the current standings for the 2020 Cup Series season:

Rank Name Points Wins Top 5

“Racing" Who Are Our Favorites?

Kevin Harvick is once again the favorite to win this race. The current leader in the Monster Cup Series standings with a total of 370 points. Harvick has finished in the Top 5 in five out of the first 9 races of the season, including a win at 2020 The Real Heroes 400. He is coming off an 11th place finish at the 2020 Supermarket Heroes 500 and that was the first time he finished outside the Top 10 this season. Harvick won this race in 2018 and was 4th last year. He has finished sixth or better in four out of his last five starts here. Harvick is also a five-time winner at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in the Xfinity Series.

Kyle Busch has finished fourth or better in five out of his last seven races. The defending Cup Series champion could’ve easily won a couple of races this year. I expect him to do well in this race as he has finished no lower than seventh in his last five out of his last seven trips to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Busch has won twice at this track in the Cup Series and if you include his experience in the Xfinity and Truck Series, he is a seven-time winner in Hampton.

Chase Elliott has moved up to third place in the Cup Series standings. Elliott finished 22nd in Bristol after three consecutive impressive races. He suffered heartbreaking losses in the Toyota 500 and Coca-Cola 600 before finally winning at the Alsco Uniforms 500 two races ago. He has finished in the Top 10 in three out of his four starts at the Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500.

Brad Keselowski has been red hot as of late with two wins in the last three races. His hot streak should continue here as his recent resume at the Atlanta Motor Speedway suggests that he is going to do well in this race. Keselowski has either won or finished second in his last three races in Atlanta and he’s finished in the Top 10 in his last five races here. He’s owned this race track and I can’t imagine this race without Keselowski in the thick of things.

Jimmie Johnson’s winless streak continues. Call us crazy for always bringing up his name among the favorites but a great driver like him is going to end that drought before he finally retires from the sport. Johnson finished third in Bristol last week and with his performance improving by the week, he’s a favorite here. He’s won this race four times before, the most by any driver. If he is to win a race before he retires, this race is one where he has a real shot.

Kurt Busch is the dark horse in this race as he has finished no worse than seventh place in six out of his last seven races. When it comes to this race track, Kurt Busch has finished 8th or better in five out of his last six trips here. He also won in this track three times earlier in his career. No question he’s a live dog here.

“Racing" Who Wins?

When it comes to the Atlanta Motor Speedway, three drivers have won the last five races there. Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson have two wins each while Kevin Harvick has one victory here. Kurt Busch and Kyle Busch are the only other active drivers to have won at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Hendrick Motorsports has been the dominant team at Hampton. The team has won 14 times and has 16 runner-up finishes. They have a total of 59 Top 5 finishes and 90 Top 10 runs. Toyota has not won at this race track since 203 and Ford has taken the last three races in Atlanta.

Chase Elliott has the highest average finish among the current drivers at this race track. Elliott is averaging a 10.5 finish here at Hampton. Erik Jones’ 10.67 is the next best stat here and no other driver has an average finish in the Top 10.

Kevin Harvick has been the most consistent driver here and has led the most laps in the last five races in the Atlanta Motor Speedway. He also has won four stages in Atlanta, the most over that period. However, he’s won just once here and that was in 2018.

Keselowski is the hottest driver in the Cup Series right now with two wins, a fourth place, and a 7th place finish in his last four starts. Harvick is the current leader in the standings and has been the most consistent driver here in the last five races. To me, it’s a toss-up between these two but I will go with the one with the better form and that is Keselowski.

Prediction: Brad Keselowski +700 but I won’t blame you for rolling with Kevin Harvick.
