In a tournament you are facing your opponents and your number one opponent is the clock. In a cash game, there is no clock. You can sit at the table for 2 days straight playing only a couple hands an hour and never worry about the blinds. If you lose your chips then you can buy more. If you have to leave then you can cash out. You can sit down for one hand and win a huge hand, then leave. It is not advised, but you could do that if you wanted to.

To make money at a ring game it is very important to play at the right table. You want to sit with players that are not as good as you are. It is ideal to play with some players that have deep pockets. The more fish that are at your table the better. The next thing to know is that there is not any need to take chances. That is chances that are not in your favor. In a cash game you can afford to miss opportunities were the odds are not in your favor. You do not have to gamble near as much as you do in a tournament. That is how you make money in cash games. Just simply wait until you get a great hand and then get paid off.
If you are playing in tough games it might be harder to win. If you are playing in easy games with bad players then it truly is that simple. You do not have to try and read players and do all the fancy stuff. Just simply get your money in when you are good and continue to do that for as long as you play. Wait until you have the best hand and then make your move. It might take a bit of acting and some slow playing to get paid off – but the most important part is to be sure you have the best hand.
