Bad Odds Casino Games
Worst Odds at Casinos
There are some games made available by online casinos simply for the purpose of giving more variety to their game selection. There are a few select games that (unless you are in it just for the fun and excitement of gambling) you should avoid as they carry very large house advantages. While these games can indeed be fun and exciting to play and occasionally pay out large sums of money, the odds are definitely something to consider. Provided here are the casino games that carry the absolute worst odds for the player.
Keno Odds
House Edge: 25%
Those that regularly play their state lottery will notice similarities to the popular casino game known as Keno. One of the major draws to this game is the low cost to make a bet (normally just a single credit) and the ability to quickly determine whether or not they won and place another bet. Land based casino games carry bad enough odds but online casinos generally take these odds and make it worse. Provided here are some Keno odds:
With a 9 number selection (out of 80 total numbers) you have a 1 in 1.3 million chance of matching all 9 numbers.
While normal (not online) casinos never have jackpots exceeding $250,000, online Keno games very seldom come even close to this amount.
Online Keno games require a selection of 10 numbers instead of the 9 associated with non online varieties. This number can often extend to 15.
Keno draws many people because of its simplicity and lottery similarities. All you need to do is select the minimum amount of numbers and wait for the numbers to be chosen on the monitor. If your numbers are chosen, you win. If not, you lose. There really is no more strategy involved in Keno than there is in buying a mega-millions lottery ticket. Unless you enjoy the feeling of playing Keno, avoid it at all costs.
Roulette Odds
House Edge: 2.7% (Single Zero), 5.26% (Double Zero)
Roulette is yet another game that seems to attract many players due to the air of sophistication and French culture that surrounds it (mostly due to its prominent presence in some movies). Another major draw to the roulette table is the large pay outs that can occur. With some bets, you may be able to win up to 35 times your initial wager.
The odds are actually quite easy to determine as the wheel holds no secrets. If a wheel has only the single zero (European), there are 36 possible numbers into which the ball can come to rest. If a wheel has both a single and double zero (American), there are 37 numbers into which the ball can come to rest. The house added the zeros to create an advantage. If there were no zeros, the game would carry absolutely no house advantage.
That being said (and assuming that you are playing the American version) your chances of winning a bet on any single number are quite low, or 1 in 37. Although these odds are quite bad, the payout for a single number win is 35 to 1. So, if you place $100 on 16 and the ball lands on 16, you will win $3,500. In the same way, very safe bets (like red or black) carry odds of 1.05 to 1 but only pay out on a 1 to 1 ratio. If you bet $100 on red and the ball lands on a red number, you will only keep your original $100.
