Online Bingo Sounds
Online Bingo Sounds: What they Mean
One of the exciting ways that online bingo websites make their games more interesting is by using sounds to alert you of many situations that arise during the game. These sounds normally differ from website to website. However, there are some general sounds that seem to reappear more often than others. This article will explain what many of these general sounds mean and how you can use them to understand what is happening during the game. These sounds are often helpful if you prefer to use the auto-play feature and perform other tasks while the game is running.
Number Announcement
Some websites use voice rendering to announce each number. In addition to each announcement, the number will appear on the screen in case you missed it. When the number is announced, that means that it will be marked on your card (in auto-play) or you must mark the number yourself (if you prefer to mark your own cards).
Fanfare – Firework Explosions
On many online bingo websites, these sounds represent that one of your cards is a winner. This can obviously be one of the most exciting sounds to hear if you are away from your computer. Other websites may use simple sounds like multiple beeps or piano chords to signify winning bingo cards.
Click Sounds
When you mark your own cards (or your cards are marked for you), you will often hear a click to signify that this action has taken place. This can be helpful for people that are not paying attention to the game as they will know that an announced number has been marked on one or more of their cards. Other websites may use pencil rubbing sounds or even bubble pops to signify this action.
Two Musical Notes
Many websites that have chat features also signify an incoming private message with some sort of sound, often two musical notes (usually a Major 3rd for those with experience in music). These sounds typically have nothing to do with the game and simply alert the player to an incoming private message from another player or website employee.
Other Chat Room Sound Effects
Some newer bingo websites have begun to integrate voice emote sounds into their chat interface. If you are unfamiliar with these sounds, they can be a bit of a surprise for the new player. Some examples of these voice emote sounds include:
Laughing: You or another player has typed a common internet phrase to signify laughing such as “LOL” or “HaHa”.
Cheering: Another player has congratulated you on a recent win.
Chanting: Usually “GO GO GO”. If you announce that you are close to getting a winning bingo card, another player may type the above phrase to cheer you on.
Familiar Voice Impressions: Some top of the line bingo websites allow players to send messages that tell the chat interface to do an impression of a familiar rock and roll artist (Elvis) or a cartoon character.
Other Sounds: There are many other fun and interesting sounds that can be triggered in the chat interface. Although these differ from website to website, you may find yourself hearing new sounds as website chat systems develop to stay ahead of the market. As a general rule, if you do not recognize the sound after playing a few games, it likely has nothing to do with the game.
